Consulting Partner Opportunities

Consultants Exchange is a marketing and matchmaking company -- we refer prospective clients to Consulting Partners, and help those "managing partners" put together project teams made up of the best talent available anywhere in the world. Project teams may be made up of other "assisting partners", located anywhere in the world, who have signed up for the project, or in some instances sub-contractors or employees of the Exchange.

Consulting Partners may be independent consultants or consulting firms, just as long as they are qualified, have a good track record and are really consultants -- i.e. get paid for consulting, and not just commission on hardware or software sales. We make a strong point in our advertising that the consultants we refer are not pushing a particular hardware or software product!

Many of the best information systems consultants in the world would like nothing better than to be able to work from home or wherever they might want to be. Now it is possible to start having this level of control over your life by simply becoming a Consulting Partner of the Exchange. And it's free to sign up as a Consulting Partner so you can be eligible for client referrals as well as opportunities to sign up for project teams that other managing partners are putting together.

Here's How It Works:

When you sign up as a Consulting Partner, there is a Consulting Partner Agreement, which defines your role and responsibilities as either a managing partner or assisting partner. Whether you are an individual consultant or a firm with multiple employees, you may find yourself in either the "managing" or the "assisting" role at different times on different projects -- but of course not on the same project. Not too confusing when you consider that programmers with many larger companies may find themselves managing a project at times, or simply being part of the team on other occasions. Consulting firms might be dealing directly with the client sometimes, or functioning as a sub-contractor to another "managing partner" in another instance.

The Client Referral Process:

  • You are eligible for client referrals whenever it looks like your expertise, experience, etc. are a good fit with the Exchange's analysis of the client's needs.
  • When you receive a client referral, you are free to deal directly with the client to provide your proposal, establish your own rates and close the sale.
  • When the client awards you the contract, you are acknowledged as the managing partner for that project, and you continue to deal directly with the client, including invoicing the client for your services.
  • Each time you are paid by the client, you are responsible under terms of the Consulting Partner Agreement to pay the Exchange a referral fee as specified by the Exchange's Referral Fee Schedule.

Project Announcements:

  • Whenever you have a client project, and need additional help to staff your project team, whether or not the project was originally referred by the Exchange, you can simply advise the Exchange by telephone or e-mail, so that a project announcement can be sent to qualified partners. As an alternative, you may also request that Consultants Exchange provide sub-contractors or employees of the Exchange to supplement your own staff.
  • There is a separate Partner Resource Agreement which covers the details of using sub-contractors or Exchange employees. This is a separate document, because most partners seem to prefer not to have the responsibility of managing others, so it seems better not to "muddy the water" by including this "legalese" in the Partner Agreement.
  • Conversely, whenever a project announcement is posted, the Exchange will notify all applicable partners whose expertise and experience fall in the area called for in the project announcement. You designate your areas of expertise when you sign up to be a partner.
  • When you receive a project announcement, you can contact the Exchange to learn more details about the project. And if it sounds like something you would like to be a part of, you can sign up right on the spot.
  • The managing partner will be advised about who has signed up for the project, and will be able to contact those partners directly to discuss qualifications, negotiate rates and make the final project team selections.
  • If you are selected, you will invoice the managing partner directly for your time, and each time one of your invoices is paid, you are responsible to pay Consultants Exchange the appropriate referral fee. To simplify matters, the Exchange sends invoices to assisting partners, based on information provided by the managing partners.
